紐約2:店不見了,記憶也漸漸地消失

沒有什麼是永久不變的,如果在這個城市裡,二十五年來都不變的事與物,那麼是否已經接近永恆?

Architecture, monuments, museums, department stores, bookstore chains, Strand, shadows of architecture on the other side of the street.

Many old shops around NYU have disappeared: they come and go. Japonica restaurant is still there; but downsized and gave way some of its space to a Western (--don't know the geography) restaurant. I do not intend to search further for the small shops that I was familiar with but have now disappeared. There have been many more Japanese restaurants and less Chinese take-aways. Perhaps people are becoming more health-conscious and do not like the roughness of Chinese take-aways.

近25年前,我在Japonica 吃便當,第一次聽到李叔同填詞的「憶兒時」音樂,那時我才知道原來曲子是日本民謠。

老店的不見,頗令人失望。取代的是美麗、氣氛的提升。

最令人難以忍受的,是博物館裡大聲喧譁的某些中國觀光客。最令人印象深刻的,也還是博物館裡,三年前還不致如此眾多的中國觀光客。

喜歡安安靜靜的博物館老派人士如D. Sylvester,若是看到這光景,鐵定心臟病要發作的。

世界快速變化中。
